Description

It is above all the variety of barley used, the "Bere Barley" which gives the aromatic typicity to this whisky: An old variety of six-row barley, already cultivated in Scotland more than 5000 years ago. It’s a low yielding barley with a dense grain that is difficult to grind. For this edition, the distillery used barley grown on the Orkney Islands in 2009. Distilled in 2010, the whisky was matured for 8 years in ex-bourbon American oak casks. A whisky that is bottled on the island of Islay unchill-filtered and colouring free.

Tasting notes of the distillery:

One the nose, cereals, ripe pear, peach syrup and lemon meringue pie. On the palate, malted barley and sweet fruit and oak notes.
