In the passion and experimental category here is an Alsatian whisky from the Bertrand distillery. An whisky experiment that this small artisanal distillery started in 2003 benefitting of the wort by the Uberach brewery. A double distillation whisky aged 3 years in barrels, for a third of new barrels and two thirds of Grands Crus barrels of Banyuls (sweet natural wine under AOC of the French Pyrénées-Orientales region). A single malt with good notes of red fruits and a touch of leather. The drying of barley on peat does not give a peated whisky as one could expect.
