Located on the banks of the river Teith and not far from the castle of Doune that is often used as a film set location (such as Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Game of Thrones, Outlander, Outlaw King or Ivanhoe), is the Deanston distillery in lovely red bricks. There they distilled this single malt in May 1996 which was then aged in a single cask, an Oloroso sherry butt for 24 years. A whisky bottled as it is in October 2020 without chill-filtration and with its natural colour for an edition of 517 bottles.
Tasting notes of the bottler: A nice nose with hints of Christmas cake, sweet barley and sherry. The palate is warming and full bodied with some toffee, apple, dark chocolate and sticky spicy cinnamon bun. The finish has good length with a hint of tobacco, dried prunes and black pepper.
