It is in the Lowlands not far from the west coast that the family business William Grant & Sons, also owner of Glenfiddich and Balvenie, founded in 1963 the Girvan grain distillery on a site that housed an old weapons factory during the Second World War. To this day on the same site, there is also the Ailsa Bay malt distillery and Hendrick's gin production. It’s a large complex where the Ladyburn malt distillery was also situated for its short life from 1966 to 1975. According to the market offer, the Girvan distillery uses mainly wheat for 90% and 10% malted barley. This single grain, vintage 1979, comes from a unique refill cask numbered 900010. It is bottled at cask strength by Wilson & Morgan in 2015 at the respectful age of 35 years. A limited edition of 304 bottles.
