This heavily peated Port Charlotte (40ppm) is made with 100% Scottish barley from Inverness-shire. It’s a 9 years old whisky with a maturation spent for 30% in first fill American whisky casks, 40% in second fill American whisky, 25% in “Vin Doux Naturel” casks and 5% in second fill Syrah casks. All are then vatted for an extra maturation of 18 months in first-fill Oloroso hogsheads.
Taste according to the distillery: smokey, with a fig-like fruity sweetness.
