Description
This Glenallachie is part of a 2024 trilogy finished in sherry casks. Starting life as a Fino, Amontillado Sherry undergoes a further period of maturation without a layer of ‘flor’. This stage of oxidative ageing develops a richer colour and more robust characteristics. Initially this whisky is aged in ex-Bourbon casks before being transferred to a hogshead ex-sherry Amontillado cask.
Tasting notes from the distillery: On the nose, orchard fruits, cinnamon and heather honey, butterscotch, hazelnuts and dark tobacco. On the palate, honey, maraschino cherries and dried apricots, followed by poached pears, blood orange, mixed nuts and cinnamon.
