Description

When it was launched in 2005, this whisky was almost banned by the Scotch Whisky Association (SWA) for technical reasons of maturation and its production was suspended. It was not until 2009 that the Spice Tree reappeared legally after a few years of development and modification of its maturation process. This whisky is a blend of single malts, a large proportion of which come from the highlands, aged in customised French oak casks ranging from light to heavily toasted which bring notes of vanilla, toasting and roasted coffee, as well of 14% of Clynelish in first-fill bourbon barrels for a fruitiness note and 4% of Dailuaine in refill hogshead for a meatiness. This whisky was bottled with its natural colour and without chill-filtration.

Flavour profile of Compass Box:

Baking spice notes such as clove and ginger surround a core of fruity maltiness.
