This intensely peated Port Charlotte (40 ppm) is made with Concerto Scottish barley. Distilled in 2013, this 9-year-old single malt was initially aged for 4 years in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels and then for a further 5 years in ex-Pomerol Bordeaux red wine casks. The result is a whisky with a lovely viscosity on the palate and a fine balance between oak and red fruits, blackberries and plums, with a touch of aged leathers.
