Description
Long before being a distillery, Deanston's red brick building housed a cotton mill. It was a revolutionary plant that operated with the strength of the nearby river and is still the pride of Deanston Distillery today as being the only in Scotland that is self-sufficient in electricity. This Deanston 10 year old is a combination of whiskies matured in ex-bourbon casks, thereafter finished in red wine casks from the Bordeaux region and united with a whisky aged entirely in Bordeaux red wine casks.
Tasting notes of the distillery: On the nose, rich grape, wine notes, honey, toffee and subtle spice. On the palate, dark chocolate, hints of treacle toffee, red wine, honey and sweet malt. The finish is long and lingering, sweet with a soft spicy finish.
