In 1963, two Coffey stills (column-stills) made the trip from Scotland to Japan and currently they are used at the Miyagikyo distillery for the distillation of this Nikka Coffey Malt. This kind of still is more often used for the production of grain whisky which makes this Nikka Coffey Malt, with a composition of 100% malted barley, a particularity to discover.
