Description
The Springbank Distillery is a must for any whisky lovers, especially when looking for authenticity and hand-made by craftsmen. The Local Barley is an annual edition made from barley grown in or around Campbeltown. For this edition, it's Glencraigs Farm near Campbeltown with a variety of barley named Belgravia. This single malt was distilled in June 2010 and bottled in December 2023. The casks used to mature this whisky are 60% Bourbon and 40% Sherry.
Tasting notes from the distillery: On the nose, this whisky is full of fruitiness, ripe bananas, boiled sweets and cinnamon. The palate starts with an oily texture. This is followed by a peppery and malty note, then strawberries, brandy and Parma violets. The finish is subtle with peat smoke hides in the background, wine gum sweetness, roasted oats, earthy perennials and a slightly dry flavour.
