Description
The Springbank Distillery is a must for any whisky lovers, especially when looking for authenticity and hand-made by craftsmen. The Local Barley is an annual edition made from barley grown in or around Campbeltown. For this edition, it's Glencraigs Farm near Campbeltown with a variety of barley named Belgravia. This single malt was distilled in May 2011 and bottled in December 2022. The casks used to mature this whisky are 55% sherry, 35% bourbon and 10% rum.
Tasting notes from the distillery: Fruity on the nose, with notes of papaya, mango and lemon, as well as a subtle floral note. On the palate, citrus intermingles with notes of manuka honey and pear drops. A salty, mineral note develops over time. The finish is rounded off by a gentle peat smoke.
