Scotland is also the story of clans and for the Dalmore distillery, it’s the Mackenzie clan whose stag became the emblem after saving King Alexander III from a charge of the animal during a hunt. It is the emblem with 12 antlers that we find on the bottle. This single malt is a creation of the master distiller Richard Paterson, who chose to age this whisky in American oak ex-bourbon casks for 12 years before maturing them for an extra few months in sherry casks.
Tasting notes of the distillery: On the nose, caramelised orange, ginger and sultanas, laced with honey. On the palate, dark chocolate and crushed almonds with a dusting of cinnamon. For the finish, sweet mangos, panna cotta and lemon sponge cake.
