Description

Strathearn, founded in 2013, is one of Scotland's smallest distilleries and has recently come into the hands of bottler Douglas Laing. To differentiate itself, this micro-distillery uses an older, rich and rustic but less productive variety of barley, Maris Otter, and also a 144-hour fermentation process that is much longer than usual. For this Inaugural version proposed by its new owner, only 32 casks are used to make this single malt, Ex-bourbon, virgin and Ex-sherry casks. This whisky is bottled with its natural colour and without chill filtration.

Tasting notes of the bottler: On the nose, a richness of malted barley with a sweetness of oak. On the palate, coating and syrupy with honey and buttercream with spices and dried apricots. The finish is warm and long with homemade pastries and a woody note.
